FAQ

What are we eating?

That’s always the 1st question, and we have the answer! Come hungry because we’ll be food-hopping, eating a variety of local cuisine such as brochettes, chapatis, ugali with stew, Isame rice, french fries, sambazas, matoke, etc., and finishing up with fresh fruit for dessert. A Rwandan fav specialty drink made of 100% sugar cane, coffee, or tea, and water are all included.

Is there a minimum or maximum amount of people for the tour?

The minimum number of food tour guests is 3, and the maximum is 10 for our Rwandan Food Tour. For private food tours, we allow up to 20 guests. For private tours more than 15 guests, 2 tour guides will be on present.

What time does the food tour start?

We currently offer 6 days in a week on Mondays through Saturdays. With 3 available times - 12 pm , 3:30 pm or 6:30pm. If you’d like to make alternative times or day outside of what is offered, please connect with us at [email protected]

How many places do I get to eat?

Plan on joining your tour guide on 5 location stops and 9 unique food tasting experiences, therefore, come hungry!

Can children join the group tour?

While we LOVE children (this was inspired by our own kids!) we recommend that all families with children under 7 years of age book a private tour.

How long is the food tour and is there a lot of walking?

The walking food tour takes between 3 and 4 hours depending on the pace of each individual group. There will be times when we get to sit however, we will walk from one place to another. All the stops will be within 5-15 mins away from each other, so for the most part, walking is light. However, we recommend comfortable closed-toed shoes.

We also recommend wearing comfortable clothes. Nyamirambo is an Islamic community therefore, so we suggest avoiding wearing crop tops, low-cut tops, short shorts, or any other revealing clothing out of respect for the local people and their beliefs and traditions.

Can I book a tour and pay on the day?

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee spots on the same day so we recommend booking your food tour in advance. Your booking can only be confirmed when payment is completed online. You can use our secure payment processing system to book your Rwandan food tour in advance with your credit card.

Are we eating Jollof rice?

We get asked this question a lot because of our company name, and although there will be rice on the menu, it’s not quite Nigerian Jollof Rice. The name Jollof in Jollof’Appetit is simply because our founder Ola is a Nigerian foodie that appreciates food from all cultures. And of course Appetit is a feeling you get when you want to eat food.
